The various engine parameters are
Bore (mm): The diameter of the cylinder.
Stroke (mm): The distance traveled by the piston from top dead center (top point) to bottom dead center (bottom point).
Capacity (cc) or Displacement: The volume displaced by piston when it moves from top dead center to bottom dead center. It is also indicated in liters.
Clearance volume: The volume above the piston when it is at the top most position or top dead center.
Compression ratio: The relation between the total volumes to the clearance volume is called compression ratio.
Valve Mechanism: The mechanism by which opening and closing of the valves are governed. It could be push rod type or overhead camshaft type.
Timing system: The mechanism by which the camshaft and fuel injection pump are operated. It could be a gear driven, chain driven or belt driven.
